Appointments

If you have registered with us for access to online appointments, you can book a Doctor’s appointment through our online system up to 14 days in advance.

If you book an online appointment and require additional services (e.g. a double appointment, or an Interpreter), please telephone the surgery and let us know as soon as possible so we can make appropriate arrangements.

Non-urgent advice: Non Attendance / Lateness

If you are unable to attend your booked appointment, please let us know in advance so we can offer the appointment to someone else.

If you are late for your appointment, you may be asked to re-book another appointment or you may have to sit and wait until the end of surgery before you are able to be seen. Patients who arrive after you, but who are on time for their appointment, will be given precedence.

Patient Self Check-In screen

We have introduced a self-check-in screen at Church Road Surgery to allow patients to let us know that they have arrived for their appointment. We hope this will alleviate the need for you to queue at reception simply to let us know you have arrived. We will make a member of the reception team available to show you how to use the screen, if needed, which is very simple to operate.

Church Road Surgery Appointment System

The surgery doors are opened at 8.00am to allow you to call in and make an appointment. We close at 18:30 Monday to Friday.

Extended Hours Surgeries

We do have Extended Access Appointments on Monday and Tuesdays.

Pre-bookable Appointments

Pre-bookable appointments with a doctor are available to book 14 days in advance. These can be booked online or by telephone 0121 411 0344.

On the day Appointments

On the Day appointments are available to book from 8.00am on the day by telephone or at the front desk. This is the time that all the on the day appointments for both morning and afternoon, are released. The earlier you ring, the more choice of appointment times you will have.

If you ring before 10:00 you will be offered an available routine morning or afternoon appointment. Once all the on the day appointments have been booked, you will be advised of this and you may be offered a pre-bookable appointment for another day or asked to ring back the following day.

Emergency Appointments

If you have a medical emergency that means you need to be seen on the day, please inform the receptionist as there are some appointments specifically reserved for clinical emergencies. If however the doctor considers your problem is not a clinical emergency, then the doctor may ask you to re-book for another day/time.

Improved Access Appointments

These are only available following a telephone triage conversation with a GP. Please call the surgery e between 8:00am-6:30pm. Calls made to the surgery outside of these times will be transferred to Badger, our Out of Hours service.

Cancel Appointments

Please let us know if you need to cancel an appointment either online or by calling us.

How Do I Arrange A Home Visit?

Our doctors will typically see four patients at the practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit. For this reason, we ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible. However, we only visit you at home if your condition means you cannot attend the surgery.

Please ring 0121 411 0344 before 11.00 am to arrange a visit. Please be prepared to tell the receptionist about your condition, give an up to date telephone number, the doctor can then telephone you to see if it would be better for you to come to the surgery to be seen immediately or in more urgent cases a home visit. Home visits are normally made after 1:30pm.

When the surgery is closed and urgent medical assistance is needed the surgery telephone system will transfer you to the duty doctors at BADGER Medical Centre.
